Valentine’s Day seems to be a touchy subject for some people. Many of us have caved and do all of the corny things required of us during this annual Festival of Love. Yet there are many people that reject this “corporate” holiday or avoid this day because they are not in a committed relationship.
I have a different opinion. Valentine’s Day is bigger than just a relationship you are in. Valentine’s Day is bigger than all of us. I should say, the concept of Valentine’s Day expands way beyond each of us.
If nothing else, it’s a wakeup call to humankind to stop what we’re doing and love. Just love.
Love others. Love yourself. Love the world. Love life!
How you define Valentine’s Day is completely up to you. After all, whose rules are you playing by?
If you love animals, celebrate animals today. If you love classic rock (like I do), rock out today. If you love grilled cheese sandwiches with pickles and ketchup (yep, this too), grill it up today!
Use this day to express gratitude for the people and things in your life that you love. And if you keep practicing this, everyday will feel like Valentine’s Day.
(Having said all of that, I am married to an amazing woman and need to give her a shout out. C’mon, I’d be asking for trouble if I didn’t say something!)
