History

Matt and Jaime created Velocity in the summer of 2010.  On October 30, 2010, Velocity held their first event – we are nothing if not quick to act!

In two short months, we built a workshop program for people who wanted to get more out of their lives – teaching them how to create a personal value system, a vision for their ideal future, and then how to break their dream life down into manageable steps.  Over the course of the next year, Velocity held more workshops, built their first website, started a daily blog, and watched their attendees go on to do amazing things – one is traveling the world, another started a business, several got promotions or changed positions, and one client even got engaged!

We’ve also booked speaking gigs and workshops at Johns Hopkins University, Deloitte Consulting, the IMF and several DC public schools, among many others.  We’ve won a federal grant piloting positive leadership in urban public schools, teach a highly effective course on goal achievement for individuals, and facilitate innovative professional development programs for educators, teams, and businesses.

Most exciting of all is the growth of the Velocity family.  In 2011 we welcomed Scott Sullivan to the team of power coaches and educators.  He brings a unique specialty to business and life coaching, as well as strong talents to our business development.  Scott also spearheads our latest venture, the Velocity Coach Academy.  The Academy is designed by our coaches to help all coaches build flourishing full-time careers.

It’s been an amazing ride so far, and we know we couldn’t have done it without the support of our friends, family, blog readers and amazing clients.
